Take Full Advantage of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act with Opolis
In 1998, the Digital Millenium Copyright Act became effective in the United States. In principle, it aims to protect copyrights and criminalizes tools to circumvent copyrights. This also includes the act of circumventing an access control, whether or not there is actual infringement of copyright itself. – In 2001 the Copyright Directive was also adopted in the European Union which is broadly of similar content as the Digital Millenium Copyright Act.
In both regulations the liability of the providers of on-line services for copyright infringement by their users is limited.
